Tata Nano Diesel could be out next year for Rs. 2 lakhs
Tata is scheduled to launch the petrol edition of their new car Tata Nano later this month.
The company is said to be working on a diesel model that could be introduced in the Indian market sometime next year.
The petrol version is likely to cost Rs. 1 lakh for the base model ex-factory.
The on-road price is expected to begin at around Rs. 1.25 lakhs.
The diesel model could be priced at around Rs. 2 lakhs for the base model.
An inside source has been quoted as saying about the diesel Nano: “We are part-suppliers for the diesel version and have been asked to start supplying to the Tatas in six months. If vendors start supplying by August-September, the company should be able to roll out the diesel version by the middle of next year after extensively testing the product.”
