Social networking is now more popular than email on the web!
Nielsen Online has reported that social networking has overtaken email to become the fourth most popular online product.
Social networks and blogs are used by almost two-thirds of all worldwide online users.
John Burbank, CEO of Nielsen Online spoke about their research: “Social networking has become a fundamental part of the global online experience. While two-thirds of the global online population already accesses member community sites, their vigorous adoption… show[s] no signs of slowing. Social networking will continue to alter not just the global online landscape, but the consumer experience at large.”
This is great news for web services like Facebook and MySpace which dominates this segment of the market.
Facebook had recently claimed that their network has an active user base of 150 million users and almost half of them visit the service on a daily basis.
