MTN MobileMoney coming to 21 nations
South African telecom giant MTN has announced that they are going to launch their mobile banking service in 21 African and Middle East countries.
They call this new service MTN MobileMoney.
MTN spoke about this initiative: “We have launched this service in South Africa in 2005. But it wasn’t a full bank account with the mobile phone at the primary access, it was very focused on key basic services, such as money transfer.”
This new service would be more capable. Users would be able to pay for purchases or check balances. They can also get a credit card with the service.
They are working with Fundamo for this service.
