Blockbuster partners with TiVo
Blockbuster has announced a deal with TiVo.
TiVo subscribers would now get access to digital movie catalog of Blockbuster.
They would be able to purchase or rent movies from Blockbuster’s OnDemand service.
The service would be available to customers with TiVo Series2, Series3, HD, or HD XL DVR boxes.
This would help Blockbuster compete more efficiently against their primary rival in the market Netflix.
Incidentally, Netflix and Amazon are already offering their services to TiVo subscribers.
Blockbuster’s vice president of digital entertainment Kevin Lewis spoke about this deal: “You will see us in a large number of other devices going forward. We need to be in the normal places that consumers want to watch movies.”
Market sources say that Blockbuster is also working on plans to bring their content to Apple devices like the iPhone and iPod Touch.
