Hero Honda wakes up to the Challenge from Honda

There was a time when Bajaj ruled the Indian Two Wheeler Industry with their scooters in the form of Chetak and the likes. They had a minor presence in the motorcycle market with some models from the Kawasaki range. Hero Honda was a minor player in that market with their 4-stroke bikes, which were totally dominated by Yamaha with their RX-100.

Situation changed dramatically when the pollution norms meant, two wheelers had to go 4-stroke and petrol started to get expensive. Hero Honda started emerging as the dominating force with their extremely efficient engines. People started looking towards motorcycles instead of scooters and the day arrived when Hero Honda became the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world with Splendor breaking all records.

Hero Honda kept playing their cards with modest decorative upgrades to their range of bikes though competition forced them to launch newer models in the form of Ambition, CBZ, and Karisma. However, the entry-level bikes in the form of Hero Honda Splendor and Hero Honda Passion were not upgraded to face the competition from Bajaj or TVS. The bike still retains extremely high confidence level from the users and sells like hot cakes.

Entry of Hero’s partner in the Hero Honda in form of Honda changed all that. They announced their entry with an extremely successful bike Unicorn which after months of its launch still has waiting periods of many weeks. More interesting models are expected to come in the market in the coming months. They also are competing with Bajaj heads on with their extremely popular models in the scooters market (Activa and Dio).

This has forced Hero Honda to think again… Honda can emerge as a dominating force in the market with its extremely high quality standards and technical expertise. And the results are coming in front of us. They have announced their arrival in the scooters market for the first time with a model planned for launch in 2006. Moreover, they have released a much-needed upgrade model of their best selling Splendor.

Super Splendor is a 125cc bike, which is being manufactured at the company’s state-of-the-art plant in Gurgaon, Haryana. They have priced this model at a modest Rs 42,500. This should help Hero Honda retain their market share in the executive segment considering the brand value of Splendor.

They are also considering setting up a third plant to increase their production capacity, which already stands at an impressive figure of 2.4 lakh units.

How long HH will keep splendoring. Time to grow man, grow your own trees and reap the fruits. Honda means business, that means they dont mind cannibalism. Unless HH comes strong and takes Honda, Bajaj, TVS as competitors, future is gleam for them.

Common yar, one could prefer new PULSAR DTSI with alloy wheels and sexy styling or Unicorn [If looks could be avoided] which has the best engine so far in india…
Hero honda is going silly now, and look at the naming style if nothing else SPLENDOR PLUS , SUPER SPLENDOR, MR. munjal needs to understand the urban market now, WORDS LIKE SUPER SPLENDOR AND SPLENDOR PLUS are only meant for villages and rural areas.

Hats off to bajaj pulsar team who are not letting the young generation to put an eye off FROM PULSAR , the sexiest bike in town..

Its high time all the Biggies in 2 wheeler market get geared up to face the challange of rising fuel prices. Given that its going to touch Rs. 50/- its going to be tough times. I guess the real challange aginst any company is meeting fuel economy challanges not the other comapnies

Herohonda splendor was good , but splendor+ is not as good as splendor .. more over Bajaj CT100 is better than splendor + at best price and mileage…

I bought the bike few days back, it is good to drive and comfort for the family ( height of the bike is good for ladies to sit on ). But body parts that comes along the bike are being manipulated by the dealers. The dealer in hyderabad , BHANU AUTOMOBILES , KUKATPALLY does that and is the worst I had ever seen in terms of service . I wish you go for a better dealer. All it matters is there !!!

    Complete review on Super Splender

I bought my new bike the new version of Hero Honda Super Splendor (Cloud Silver). Its really Super………..

About likes – Its descent looks, neat design (no wacky outfits unlike other 125cc bikes), excellent performance, Butter smooth engine.

New version comes with Self-Drum. On first touch it starts without any hassle. Gear shifting is good. Riding comfort is perfect for me 63kg 5.8’’. You can hardly feel the engine running its that smooth. I use to ride my cosine’s Pulsar 150 where I could feel the engine vibrating. Mileage is excellent 60+ in city condition. On road price Bangalore is Rs 47813/-. Which is I thing is the cheapest. I loved it so much that on the very first day I drove it 83 km.

Read from other reviews that top speed is 93km/hr didn’t try as she is new. I will try once it completes 1000km.

Excellent Performance , Good Mileage, Good Handling

I liked this Bike because of its descent looks, neat design (no wacky outfits unlike other 125cc bikes), excellent performance, Butter smooth engine.

New version comes in one model Self-Drum. On first touch it starts without any hassle. Gear shifting is good. Riding comfort is perfect for me 63kg 5.8’’. Engine very smooth. I use to ride my cosine’s Pulsar 150(Non DTSi) where I could feel the engine vibrating. Mileage is excellent 58+ in city condition. It has the Digtal CDI and TCIS(check this link for more details http://www.herohonda.com/site/ss/Quantum_Core.htm). On road price in Bangalore is Rs 47813/-. Which is I thing is the cheapest. I loved it so much that on the very first day I drove 84 km.

Pay Rs.200/- and you will get 3 years Insurance for 1 lakh. And 3 year/ 40000kms Warranty

Read from other reviews that top speed is 93km/hr didn’t push her to hard as she is is new.

But for me it really doesn’t matter much. As I drive most of the time in city called BANGALORE which has the highest two wheelers in Asia (19.5 Lakhs) and obviously highest Traffic.Yes its power 9bhp is the lowest in its class. But check out the torque output… it’s 10.35 Nm @ 4000 rpm.Which is the Best in 125cc class.

Finally about looks: Any Good looking Male/Female can’t be crowed as No.1 Hero/Heroine. They should Perform to become No.1.Which is the Most important.

Part 2: 1000kms now doing good. 1st service done mileage not yet tested after service.

1st service done and i am glad that the head light focus problem has been fixed.I feel it the bike has become even better after crossing 1000KM .

It was nice to know about Super splendour. I’m planning to buy a bike within a fortnight. Am a bit confused between Super splendour and hero honda glamour(not FI). both are 125cc and have almost same features. however, glamour is a bit costlier. i don’t understand why?
Also, is it worth buying the costlier FI version of glamour given all its engine advantages?
Can anyone guide me in getting to a decision?
    Please mail me on madhurpatel3000@yahoo.com
i would be very much grateful to you incase u can help me regarding this.

HH SUPER SPLENDOR IS ENOUGH STYLE, LOW PRICE, MEDIAM MILAGE AND VERY SMOOTHY. BUT I CONFUSED FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF BAJAJ DISCOVER. I LIKE IT ALSO. IT LOOK LIKE VERY SEXY AND COOL FROM HH SUPER SPLENDOR.
