Veoh cutting jobs as it focus on video search
Veoh founder Dmitry Shapiro has now taken over as the new CEO of the company as they are now focusing on establishing themselves as a video search service.
He replaced Steven Mitgang who was previously with Yahoo before joining Veoh.
Shapiro said that they are now going to focus more on their Video Compass browser plug-in application.
It was launched in January this year.
He spoke about this tool: “The plug-in basically scours the Internet for all video related to what you are searching for and displays it in a strip across top of a search page. It saves hours of looking. It makes video a part of your online experience without you having to go to YouTube, Veoh, Hulu or where ever.”
The company added: “We have always believed that video discovery and personalization are ultimately the important problems to solve in the world of billions of videos, and have invested heavily in technologies to support that belief.”
