Verizon Wireless launches music and mobile app store

Verizon Wireless has become the latest player in the mobile applications market.

The US based telecom giant has launched its own digital media and mobile apps store.

They are currently offering more than 5 million tracks for downloading. And most of these songs are available without DRM.

These tracks are priced in three price range: $1.29, 99 cents, and 69 cents.

Mike Lanman, VP and chief marketing officer for Verizon spoke about this new service: “Being the first wireless company to add MP3s to our online media store gives our customers a one-stop shopping experience for all kinds of music — ring tones and ringback tones and now MP3s. We have long led in mobile music, and together with the new pricing options we will continue to set the standard for the industry.”

The company also launched their mobile applications store to compete against the rival stores in the market like Apple App Store.

This store is currently compatible with their mobile devices with Get It Now capabilities.
