Apple has placed a massive order for NAND flash chips

DigiTimes has reported that Apple has placed a mega order for 8Gb NAND flash chips which is to be delivered later this year.

Samsung is likely to provide bulk of this order as usual.

The order is said to be for around 100 million units of 8gigabits flash chips. These can be combined together to make big capacity flash memory disks for use in portable media players.

This could be a hint of larger capacity iPhone coming up in the near future. Or Apple might just be stocking them for long term usage fearing the price might go up in the future.
