McAfee: SPAM is environmentally unfriendly
Security applications developer McAfee has revealed in their latest report that SPAM messages are not just nuisance they are also environmentally unfriendly.
The company said in their new report titled ‘Carbon Footprint of E-mail Spam Report’ that a single spam message results in 0.3 grams of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere.
This is equivalent to driving 3 feet in a car.
The report said: “While the spam that arrives in any individual’s inbox may create just a small puff of (carbon dioxide), the puff multiplied by millions of users worldwide adds up.”
The report also said that email users around the world spend almost around 100 billion user-hours per year dealing with spam messages that land in their inbox bypassing the spam filters.
