YouTube announces CaptionTube for adding captions to videos
Google owned video sharing service YouTube has announced a new utility named CaptionTube which makes it easier for anyone to add captions to videos hosted on the service.
CaptionTube has been developed by Google user experience designer John Skidgel in his spare time and it is hosted on Google App Engine.
Users would of course require a Google Account to use this new service.
YouTube spoke about captioning YouTube videos:
We recognize, however, that the process of adding closed captions to your video — uploading a text file — leaves a bit to be desired, even though we support a wide range of formats from various captioning service and software. A caption editor on YouTube would surely make life easier.
