YouTube prepares to take on Hulu
Google has announced some new deals which would enable YouTube to become a worthy challenger to Hulu.
The search engine industry leader said that YouTube would soon feature more full-length movies and TV shows.
They are also in the process of launching new advertising features on the service to boost revenues.
YouTube announced new sections Movies and Shows on the service designed for these upcoming videos.
YouTube is already working with Universal on their recently announced Vevo project. This is a good boost to that effort.
YouTube’s Shiva Rajaraman said: “It’s a first step in a long commitment.”
Google has partnered with a long list of companies for this new section. Partners include:
Sony Corp., Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., CBS Corp., Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., Liberty Media Corp, Discovery Communications Inc., National Geographic and SnagFilms LLC.
