Google: 2009 could be the year of the Android
Google Android is not making much news when it comes to smartphone launches.
But a lot of new devices are expected to arrive later this year.
Google believes that this could very well make Android the mobile platform of the year 2009.
Google CEO Eric Schmidt said that they believe Android is going to have a very, very strong year.
He admitted that the open source architecture of the platform is helping them gain more support in the market.
Schmidt also added that they are going to make some important announcements related to the Android platform this year which could boost its presence in the mobile segment.
