US Army is now on Facebook and Twitter
US Army has announced the establishment of their Online Social Media Division.
They have created a fan page on Facebook social networking service and are also now present on the Twitter micro-blogging site.
US Army spokeswoman Lindy Kyzer spoke about the new developments: “Young people today don’t watch the evening news. They’re friends are sharing information through Twitter, or Facebook. If we have no presence on those spaces, then we’re not telling the army’s story.”
Kyzer added about the problems created by social networks in an organization like the US Army: “It’s unfortunate and makes things more difficult in the deployed environment, but we have great programs set up so that you have Internet cafes in deployed situations and things like that.”
