Apple has a new 1-23 ad targeting PCs (Microsoft)

Apple is back with its innovative ads targeting Microsoft. This latest one is pretty mean.

The ad is running on popular websites like Wired.com and is similar to the previous one targeting Windows Vista.

The ad showcases the two characters PC and the Mac. PC explains to Mac that they are also easy to use. The user just has to follow 1-23 steps. Not 1-2-3 but 1 to 23 steps.

The steps listed are:

1. Remove unneeded bloatware
2. Configure security settings
3. Download and install OS security patches
4. Restart
5. Download / install extra security programs
6. Restart
7. Download / install drivers for peripherals
8. Restart
9. Remove optional Windows components
10. Update new virus list
11. Run full system virus scan
12. Update new malware list
13. Run full system malware scan
14. Download / install application updates
15. Restart
16. Clean out system registry
17. Repair corrupt system registry
18. Defragment hard drive
19. Free up disk space
20. Scan disk for errors

23. Cross fingers

What a joke. So many of these aren’t even true.

    1. Clean install no bloatware.
2 and 3 Sorry but when you have software built for the masses (most businesses) your going to have issues with security as hackers try to exploit anything and everything.
    4. So you don’t have to restart a Mac?
    5. So there is no antivirus/firewall for Mac?
    6. See 4
    7. So Macs have every driver for every device?
    8. See 4
    9. So Mac sets up everything you want and nothing more?
    10. The antivirus program does this automatically
    11. See 10
    12. Windows Defender – download and setup your done.
    13. See 12
    14. Wow no applications have update for Macs?
    15. See 4
    16. Huh? Maybe if your still running that windows 98
    17. In 15 years I have only had a handful of corrupt registrys mostly caused by hardware failures. I am sure that Mac hardware never fails right??
    18. New drives don’t need defragment as they are fast and there is almost no difference in defragmenting.
    19. Are you kidding me? Disk space, I am sure Macs don’t run out of hard drive space??
    20. Scan disk or scandisk (old windows 98) is automatically performed with chkdsk if there is a file system issue.
    21. Yes if you install some crappy program that modifies files it shouldn’t have then you may have to run system file checker. The difference between mac and pc is that anyone can develop a program for a pc.
    22. Online instruction manual?? WTF are you smoking.
