European Commission has a mega fine in store for Intel

European Commission has announced that they are fining Intel a record 1.06 billion Euros in an antitrust case.

The US based microprocessor industry giant has also been told to halt illegal rebates and other practices which were designed to harm the competition specifically AMD.

This is good news for AMD as they are now likely to gain more support in the market.

European Union Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes said in a statement: “Given that Intel has harmed millions of European consumers by deliberately acting to keep competitors out of the market for over five years, the size of the fine should come as no surprise.”

EU said that Intel is free to offer rebates to their partners as long as they are legal.
