WolframAlpha latest to take on web search challenge
Google is the dominating player in the search engine market and they do a pretty good job of indexing the web and making it available for searching.
WolframAlpha is a new player in this market which aims to make a “computational knowledge engine.”
The aim is to not compete with Google but to provide an alternate searching tool for research purposes.
One of the people behind this project is British-born scientist and inventor Stephen Wolfram who earned a PhD in theoretical physics from Caltech at the age of 20.
He spoke about this search engine which should be available for public use in the coming hours: “The basic idea of WolframAlpha is very simple⦠You type your input, your question and WolframAlpha produces a result.”
It remains to be seen if this search tool can beat the usability of Google. Maybe it would further challenge Google search developers to further improve their engine.

I am a Ph.D candidate doing research for a dissertation. I used this for a couple topics and nothing came up. I guess it really isn’t ready yet.
