Symbian Foundation sees growth in smartphone market this year

Symbian Foundation has said that they are expecting the smartphone sales to grow by around 12-15 percent in 2009.

Symbian is one of the most popular mobile platforms for smartphones.

Lee Williams, chief of the Symbian Foundation spoke about their assessment: “For the first time people are realizing you don’t have to carry your digital camera with you and your phone, for the first time people are realizing that you can do your email and access Internet services on your mobile phone.”

He was speaking at the Reuters Global Technology summit in Paris.

Smartphones are becoming more and more capable now. They are already showing the real web using advanced web browsers. Surfing on mobile devices is becoming as convenient as surfing on regular computers.
