Microsoft Kumo might arrive next week

There is a strong possibility that Microsoft would finally launch their Kumo codenamed search engine next week.

Microsoft Kumo is currently undergoing private beta testing. We have already seen referral hits from Kumo.com in our server logs.

It remains to be seen if Kumo would be launched on its own domain or would it be shifted to the regular Live Search site.

Google continues to dominate the search engine market and few new players are emerging.

Most new search engines offer specialized approach. Wolfram Alpha for example calls itself a computational search engine.

From what we have seen and heard about Kumo, it has nothing special over what we already have on offer from Yahoo and Microsoft.

Unless, Microsoft has something really surprising for us, Kumo is hardly going to challenge Google’s domination in this market.

Actually Kumo is bringing something pretty sweet to the table, semantic search. The ability to generate answers to natural language queries. This could be the future of search. However, it is inevitable that Google will just adapt, which it already seems to be doing since it recently updated Google Chrome.
