Microsoft has practically failed to take on Google when it comes to the search engine market.

The company has launched several editions of their search engines. We have had MSN Search, Live Search and now yet another version is expected to come out in the coming days.

The codename for the new edition of Microsoft’s search engine is Kumo. However, market sources say that Microsoft is considering a new brand name Bing for the latest update.

The company is also said to be working on launching a brand new marketing campaign for Microsoft Bing.

Microsoft could spend as much as $80 to $100 million on an ad campaign promoting Bing as an alternative to Google Search.

I applaud any alternative to Google. I do not like their preferencing sites over a given search. They do not own the internet yet everyone seems to believe they do. I do not like it when news reporters say “google it.” These people are supporting a particular product or search engine over the multitude of possibilities out there.

So far, all it is is a new name for MSN search. I’m happy with google so, I doubt I’ll switch. One thing I notice is that if you go to http://www.bing.com, while it isn’t operating yet, it apparently requires javascript for absolutely no reason at all. If the functioning website needs javascript, that’s enough reason for me to stay away.

Have we entered the twilight zone or something? People are praising Microsoft as morally superior alternative to Google?

Microsoft – the people who brought you Windows, Internet Explorer, and the Blue Screen of Death; Vs Google – the people who brought you Gmail, Google Voice, Street View, Google Calendar, and a hundred other web-based applications.

I’ll stick with Google, thank you.

I just want a search engine that gives me the specific topic I am researching. No filler, no preference, just the facts. If “Bing” will do that, then I’m in. I hate “google”, anyway.

Microsoft is the leader of any new innovative ideas in the market. Google’s every product is full of bugs and incomplete. They wins only because the name of google in search engine. When I try to get something better from search it always gives the results like the scraps in the trash bin. I think this one will throw off google from the first place.(I only use livesearch for importent and accurate results.

I rarely use Google any more; too much junk. I’m sure Bing will bring in as much junk, too, but I will give it a try. I wish I could get rid of the junk sites that are out there. but then again, what is junk is subjective.

Microsoft Bing would be the closet competitor of Google. but i still use Google because it shows more relevant results on the serp.
