Hulu might not remain totally free in the future

News Corp’s Jonathan Miller has stated that the company is considering making some of the shows on the Hulu service paid.

He said that a subscription model is a big possibility in the future.

Miller said: “I don’t see why over time that shouldn’t happen.”

It is unlikely to happen in the coming months as YouTube is working hard on becoming a potent challenger to Hulu’s domination in the TV Show and Movie streaming segment.

Hulu is currently supported by online advertisements.

Miller has just joined News Corp and one of his responsibilities is to find ways to generate more revenues from company’s digital properties.

He also hinted that to lure customers into paying for news online, they might include a hardware device in the subscription package.

Rupert Murdoch has been giving hints that they might soon start charging for providing access to their news properties on the web.
