Sony announces support for Vevo

Sony Music Entertainment has announced that they are joining the Vevo project.

Google and YouTube are the technology providers for Vevo which already has the blessings of Universal.

It is currently scheduled for launch later this year.

Not many details are available on how Sony would be contributing to this venture. They would of course be providing their content for showcasing on Vevo.

Sony Music Entertainment CEO Rolf Schmidt-Holz spoke about joining Vevo: “We share a common vision of offering music videos and other premium video content from some of the world’s greatest artists in an attractive, clean and intuitive environment that appeals to fans and advertisers alike.”

Sony is already in a similar deal with YouTube to provide them with their television shows.
