Western Digital launches SiliconDrive III Solid State Disk drives
Western Digital has finally launched their own range of solid state drives.
The company is now offering SiliconDrive III Solid State Disk (SSD) drives.
WD had acquired SiliconSystems earlier this year to gain the SSD expertise.
The company has not revealed the pricing as they are aiming to offer these disks to PC manufacturers.
WD said that their product range include discs in capacities from 30GB to 120GB depending on size.
The company added that their discs come loaded with PowerArmor technology which is designed to protect the drive against storage system field failures.
Other technologies incorporated in these discs include SiSMART and SolidStor.
