Palm on possible iTunes disconnect for Pre smartphone
One of the unique features of Palm Pre is that it can sync data from Apple iTunes.
It is the only device in the market other than Apple iPods and iPhones to do so.
This feature is of course not supported by Apple as they have already specified in a note posted on their website.
Apple’s message could mean that they could potentially disable the functionality in a future update of iTunes.
Palm had this to say on the statement made by Apple: “Palm’s media sync works with the current version of iTunes. If Apple chooses to disable media sync in a future version of iTunes, it will be a direct blow to their users who will be deprived of a seamless synchronization experience. However, people will have options. They can stay with the iTunes version that works to sync their music on their Pre, they can transfer the music via USB, and there are other third-party applications we could consider.”
