Wall Street Journal: Steve Jobs had a liver transplant

Wall Street Journal has reported that Apple chief Steve Jobs had a liver transplant around two months ago.

But he is recovering well and he is expected to return to work by the end of the month.

The report said that Jobs might work part time after his return to Apple for the near future.

Apple spokeswoman Katie Cotton was quoted as saying: “Steve continues to look forward to returning at the end of June, and there’s nothing further to say.”

Jobs has been on a medical leave since the beginning of the year. The reason stated was hormonal imbalance. Apparently the problems were more complicated than earlier believed.

Apple COO Tim Cook has been running the company since then.

Apple in the meantime did not take a break and continued launching new products including the new iPhone 3G S. The company has also totally overhauled their MacBook range.
