Motorola Android powered smartphones coming later this year

Motorola has been keeping a very low profile in the last couple of months.

They have launched a couple of new devices but none of them made headlines.

The company aims to change that by the end of the year.

Motorola has been working on a new generation of mobile devices powered by the Google Android mobile platform.

The company plans to launch a couple of them before the start of the holiday season later this year.

Apple iPhone dominates the US smartphone market. Palm Pre has turned out to be a good contender. Blackberry has been performing well in the US market.

The only loser seems to be Microsoft with their Windows Mobile platform.

Microsoft has been working on Windows Mobile 6.5 release. They aim to launch the next major update Windows Mobile 7 sometime next year.

It just might be too late for them with Android starting to pick up momentum.

2009 is clearly a big year for windows mobile, android, RIM and apple. The market in general was up about 68% over last year in the US. We are going to be swimming in high end good quality smartphones. I am just fine with that.
