Palm: Market is big enough for multiple players to dominate
Palm recently launched their Pre smartphone which has now become one of the biggest challengers to the Apple iPhone.
However, Apple came out with their iPhone 3GS which has turned the tables on them.
Palm is not worried however. The company said that the global smartphone market is big enough and several players can co-exist and expand their presence.
Jon Rubinstein, Palm’s chairman and CEO said in a statement: “Only a handful of companies have the software and product design capabilities. There’s room for three to five players in this space. We don’t have to beat each other to prosper.”
RIM Blackberry and Google Android are other popular smartphone platforms. Nokia Symbian is currently the market leader when it comes to mobile platforms.
Palm did not reveal the number of Pre units they have sold in the market till now.
