Apple, Nokia, Samsung, LG, RIM and more agree on a common charger for mobile devices!

There is good news for mobile users around the world. Almost every major mobile phone maker has agreed on a goal to have a common charger for their mobile phone models.

These companies have settled on using micro-USB connections for charging their mobile devices.

Micro-USB is already pretty popular with some smartphone models along with some thin mobile devices.

The companies who have agreed on this standard includes Apple, LG, Motorola, Nokia, RIM, Samsung and Sony Ericsson along with chip makers like NEC, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments.

These are aiming to have all of their phone models support this standard by the year 2012.

Apple is the surprise package in this latest announcement as the company tends to use their own proprietary connector for their iPhone device. The company makes a lot of money from the accessory market that is dependent upon their iPod and iPhone models.
