Dell working on an Android powered Apple iPod Touch rival?

Wall Street Journal has reported that Dell is working on a mobile internet device which would be powered using Google Android mobile platform.

This device would be similar to Apple iPod Touch but slightly larger.

It would not work as a mobile phone but would feature wireless internet connectivity for web surfing and other purposes.

The report said that Dell plans to launch it before the end of the year potentially aiming for the holiday season sales.

Dell has been rumoured to be working on smartphone models for quite some time now. Recent reports claimed that they failed to impress the mobile service providers in the US market with their prototypes.

Looks like they are now focusing on releasing a mobile internet device first before concentrating on telephony devices.
