Apple wins a mega order from Maine

The State of Maine has placed a mega order with Apple for around 64,000 MacBooks.

This order is part of the state’s program to expand the Maine Learning Technology Initiative into all public high schools.

They are also expected to order more laptops in the future to fulfil the needs of the students in the state.

Maine Education Commissioner Sue Gendron spoke about this new development: “We have seen incredible success with our middle schools showing increased student engagement and achievement with MLTI in place and we want to bring this same opportunity to our high schools. This is not just about technology — it’s about using the technology to support education.”

The order would include Apple Laptops that would come preloaded with Apple iLife and Apple iWork preinstalled.

Apple is also expected to provide educational software, training, repair and replacement and technical support for these machines.
