Microsoft Bing gains some market share from Google

Microsoft has something to cheer about. Their recently launched Bing search engine has managed to gain some market share from its primary rival Google.

The gain is not much but it shows positivity towards the Bing search engine in general.

The latest report by StatCounter reveals that Bing took 8.23 percent of U.S. Web searches in June. This is up from 7.21 percent in April.

Google’s market share was slightly down to 78.48 percent from 78.72 percent before the launch of Bing.

Yahoo Search also gained some market share. Its share rose to 11.04 percent from 10.99 percent.

StatCounter Chief Executive Adohan Cullen spoke about their report: “At first sight, a 1 percent increase in market share does not appear to be a huge return on the investment Microsoft has made in Bing but the underlying trend appears positive.”
