T3 magazine names Sony Walkman the most important music invention
T3 magazine has surprised Apple fans by naming Sony Walkman the best music related invention of the last 50 years.
The Sony Walkman managed to defeat Dolby sound system, Compact Discs and the current market leader iPod to top the list.
This comes just as the Walkman is celebrating its 30th birthday.
Sony had launched the first model of their Walkman series 30 years ago. The model was named TPS-L2.
Kat Hanniford at T3 Magazine spoke about the walkman: “It changed the way we access music, changed how often we could access music, and changed a generation.”
The MP3 music format which revolutionized music on the web took the second spot on the list. Apple iPod was third.
