Google adds PDF viewer option in search results
Google Operating System blog has reported that Google is now providing the option of viewing PDF files inside the web browser without any third party add-on directly from the search result pages.
This feature works similar to how you can view PDF Files from your Gmail Inbox.
Google converts the pages inside the PDF into PNG format for viewing inside the web browser so that the user does not require Adobe Acrobat Reader software.
The content remains searchable however.
The report added that this option is not available on all PDF documents available online. So, Google is not converting the PDF files on the fly. This is a rather strange step from the search engine giant.
Most of the converted PDF file seems to be hosted on .EDU domains… So you can check this feature out here.
