My preferred sites is a useful Google experimental feature

If Google is your preferred search engine, you can try out the My preferred sites experimental feature available through Google Labs.

This feature improves the search result rank position of websites you choose.

So, if you are an avid reader of Wikipedia, you can add it to your preferred site list to get improved listings of pages from the popular open source Encyclopedia.

Google also marks the results from your preferred sites to highlight them on search result pages.

The feature requires you to be logged in to Google while searching on the web. It also requires you to have cookies feature turned on.

The only issue is that you can only pick sites from a pre-defined list which seems to be generated from your web search history. So, Google gives you suggestions from sites which you visit more often than others.
