Nissan Leaf electric car showcased

Japanese automaker Nissan has finally showcased their upcoming electric car they have codenamed Leaf.

This vehicle was showed at the company’s new plant in Japan by Nissan Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn.

Nissan is aiming to introduce it in the market next year. It would go on sale in Japan, Europe and USA.

Shiro Nakamura has designed the car for Nissan. He said: “This is not a niche car. We didn’t make it unusual looking. It had to be a real car.”

This model would go global in 2012 when mass production is scheduled to begin. Nissan is aiming to price it just like a conventional car at prices around USD 15000.

Ghosn was ecstatic at the event. He said: “This car represents a real breakthrough.”
