Yahoo to invest more in display ads, content generation and mobile services

Yahoo recently announced their landmark deal with Microsoft which would result in Microsoft Bing search engine technology powering Yahoo Search.

Yahoo said that they had to take the decision because they simply did not have the resources to enhance their search services when compared to Microsoft and Google.

Now that they have outsourced the search engine technology, the company would now focus on other core areas.

Yahoo said that the freed up resources and funds would be used to expand into display ads market along with content generation and mobile services.

Yahoo chief executive Carol Bartz said in a statement: “My first reaction when I got here was that I wouldn’t even do a search deal until I looked at our expense structure and our actual options and looked at what our prime job was, which is to grow audience.”
