Intel releases new updated 64-Bit Processors

Intel raised the bar again with their newly released processors featuring 64-bit technology with more memory. The new processors were launched in the presence of top market leaders like Hewlett-Packard, Dell, IBM, and Unisys in San Francisco. In addition, Intel also launched an upgraded model of a chipset, which would help the computer makers to utilize the full potential of the latest generation of processors.

Intel’s latest Xeon MP Models have been developed keeping servers with the capabilities of running 4 processors in mind. They have released two separate variants with the cheapest “Cranford” version coming with 1 MB cache memory. The highest end model “Potomac” comes with both four Megs and eight Megs Cache memory.

However, market has already seen similar spec processors from Intel’s major rivals AMD, which are already available in the market. They would now be hoping to jumpstart the dual-processor segment by releasing their models before Intel. That would really heat up the market forcing the market leaders Intel to work hard playing the catch-up game. Intel is only expected to enter this new market for Desktop PCs next year.
