DivX signs deal with Lions Gate Entertainment and Paramount Pictures

DivX has announced that they have signed deals with two new media labels Lions Gate Entertainment Corp and Paramount Pictures.

They would now digitally distribute their films online.

With this, the company now has deals with four major movie companies including Warner Bros and Sony Pictures.

DivX is mostly known for their media compression technologies which are already being used in as many as 200 million consumer electronics devices.

They are now working on launching an online destination in the US market to offer these movies.

They are already offering the movies in DivX format in the European countries.

Curt Marvis, President of Lionsgate Digital Media spoke about partnering with DivX: “In partnering with DivX, we are ensuring that our films are made available to video-on-demand sites in a secure, high- quality format. It’s important to us that Lions Gate fans enjoy the same cinematic viewing experience watching our movies at home or on the go as they do in the theater. The DivX format enables us to do that. As our fourth format approval agreement with a major motion picture studio, this agreement demonstrates the traction we are gaining in making premium Hollywood content available to DivX consumers worldwide.”
