Comcast launches dead web page redirection service on their network
Comcast has announced that they have now implemented their Domain Helper program on their entire network.
This program forwards any request to a non working web page to a customized Yahoo search result page which of course also contains advertisement.
The company said that the program is designed to help customers search for what they had been looking for.
However, experts believe that this is a bad practice and the company is forcing customers to land on ad filled search pages powered by Yahoo.
Comcast recently blogged about this technology which had been in beta testing: “With the Domain Helper service we are testing now, we will instead help direct your Web browser to an easy-to-use page with suggestions and links to get you back on track.”
Comcast is enabling users to opt-out of this program but that is not a good alternative as per their customers who are complaining on company’s website.
