Toshiba confirm plans for Blu-Ray powered products

Toshiba has announced that they are going to launch Blu-Ray technology powered products in the coming months.

The company would launch standalone players along with drives and laptops.

The first generation products from the company could go on sale as early as later this year.

Toshiba incidentally was the company behind the HD DVD format which was the challenger to Blu-Ray technology.

Toshiba lost the war and had to stop the development of HD DVD format which automatically made Blu-Ray the winner.

The company added that they would soon join the Blu-ray Disc Association.

Toshiba said in a statement: “In light of recent growth in digital devices supporting the Blu-ray format, combined with market demand from consumers and retailers alike, Toshiba has decided to join the BDA.”
