Microsoft, Yahoo! and Amazon take on Google Book Search project

Microsoft, Yahoo! and Amazon are joining the Open Book Alliance.

This alliance is taking on Google on their book search project which aims to index all the available books in the world.

Google makes the content searchable on their service. Web users also get the ability to purchase the books.

Microsoft and Yahoo have confirmed their intentions to take on Google while Amazon’s entry has not been confirmed yet.

The group aims to take on Google by claiming in court that the Google’s broad settlement with authors and publishers is not good for the market and it gives them an effective monopoly on unorganized content.
