Yahoo aims to take on Bing with user interface
Yahoo recently announced a deal with Microsoft which would see them use Bing engine for their search result pages.
The deal has to be approved by the regulatory bodies.
Yahoo has now hinted that they are not dropping out of the search engine market just like that. They are going to continue to innovate while using Bing’s data for search results.
The company said that the user interface of the search result pages is still under their control and this is where they are going to compete with Google and Microsoft Bing.
Yahoo is working on several new enhancements for their search result pages which they believe would attract web users from rival services.
Prabhakar Raghaven, Yahoo! labs and search strategy senior vice president said: “The back-end of search is a megawatt war, and that is what we are getting out of. We believe the battle has move beyond the back end; we want to fight the battle on the other end.”
Yahoo! vice president of search products and design Larry Cornett added: “We are committed to continuing to invest in search. This design is going to transform the way you use the Web; make it easier and faster for you to find the things that matter most to you.”
