Honda India to enhance production to meet growing demand

Honda Siel Cars India Limited has revealed that they are aiming to increase their production by as much as 50% starting next month.

The company aims to clear the backlog of order as it prepares to handle the load from the upcoming holiday season.

Honda since sometime has been working on a single shift manufacturing around 5000 units per month.

Honda said: “We are moving from single-shift production to double shift to do away with the backlog.”

The company clarified about the waiting period on their hugely successful model Honda City: “We launched Jazz in June and at that time we had reduced the production of City to make up for the new launch. However, in July we did the opposite and ramped up the production of City. Since there is a huge demand for the two, we are ramping up the production.”

Honda is also rumoured to be working on bringing an updated edition of Civic in the Indian market.
