Forrester Research: eBook Readers have to be priced at USD 50 to become popular
Forrester Research has stated in their latest report that for eBook readers to become popular they have to become as cheap as USD 50.
Amazon Kindle and Sony Reader are some of the popular devices in this segment of the market. But both are significantly priced higher.
Analysts believe that touching this price point is going to be tough considering the technology is pretty expensive. Industry sources say that a 6 inch e-ink display screen itself costs around USD 60.
The report added that the content providers would have to collaborate with the makers to bring down the cost of the devices to make them a mass device.
The cheapest device from a recognized company costs around USD 199 currently.
