Google’s next target is to become a leader in Video Searching
Google would soon start inviting people to submit their videos as they plan to expand their search engine capabilities to include videos available on the Internet. This plan was unveiled by the company co-founder Larry Page on Monday. At the annual cable industry convention in San Francisco, Page said to the media: “We’re going to start taking video submissions from peopleâ€. He was supported by his partner Sergey Brin who also chipped in with: “We’re always looking for ways to expand partnershipsâ€.
Google’s initial attempts at Video Search came into horizon in January as they rolled out a test version of their beta search engine, which allowed the users to search television content from the leading providers like Fox, NBA, and PBS. The engine provided still images from the episodes in the search results along with the details of the telecast time on the television.
The search engine giant is also planning to expand there partnerships with companies like Comcast which uses their search engine technology and create their own genuine content. Their competition in the form of Yahoo! has their version of the video search rolled out as well which searches actual videos available on the net. In addition, they have gone into collaboration with Mark Burnett and JibJab Media to expand their services in the entertainment field.
Google for the time being is staying away from entering into the entertainment market though they want to enhance their search engines to continue dominating the search market.
