802.11n Wi-Fi standard finally approved by IEEE

IEEE has finally given its approval to the 802.11n wireless LAN standard.

An official announcement is to arrive in the coming days.

Industry reports say that the body has given its approval to both 802.11n and 802.11w.

Bruce Kraemer, chairman of the 802.11n Task Group has been quoted as saying in a message: “Although this e-mail vehicle falls far short of expressing the sentiment, thanks to the hundreds of 802.11members that contributed to these efforts, as well as the 802 EC and the IEEE Staff.”
