Lenovo OPhone announced
China based personal computer maker Lenovo has announced their OPhone in collaboration with China Mobile.
OPhone has been designed to take on the Apple iPhone in this market.
Huang Xiaoqing, president of China Mobile’s Institute of Research spoke about their aims with this new range of phone: “We hope OPhone will take at least 50 percent of China’s smartphone market in three to five years.”
China Mobile has developed the software which powers this new smartphone model. It supports the TD-SCDMA 3G standard.
Lenovo Mobile said that the device would cost more than USD 200 to manufacture but the retail price would be decided by the mobile company.
Apple iPhone is set to arrive in China through a deal with China Unicom.
