NEC Electronics and Renesas Technology to merge their chip operations
NEC Electronics and Renesas Technology have announced their decision to merge their operations by April next year.
The merged entity would become the world’s third largest chip manufacturer in terms of revenues.
The new entity would be called NEC Electronics and it would be headed by Junshi Yamaguchi.
The two companies said that they decided to merge because of the increasing competition in the chip market which makes it hard for them to compete individually.
