ARM announces 2GHz Cortex-A9 microprocessor
ARM has announced a new Cortex-A9 microprocessor that would run at 2 GHz.
This processor has designed to be used on portable devices like smartphones and smartbooks.
The company aims to deliver the product by the end of the year so that devices powered by it could arrive by next year.
This processor has the capability to take on the Intel Atom microprocessor but there is a major problem. Microsoft is not going to support their architecture on Windows 7.
So, ARM is relying on Linux powered machines for their success. The company claimed that this new processor would consume just half a watt while running at peak output. This makes it suitable for use on mobile phones.
