AnandTech: Internet Explorer consumes least battery in laptops!
AnandTech did an interesting test and came out with surprising results.
While most browser comparisons deal with speed and web standard support, AnandTech did a comparison of web browsers in terms of battery backup!
They took three laptops and picked three websites. These sites were reloaded after a particular interval in all the major browsers available in the market today. The battery backup times were noted.
The results showed that Internet Explorer provides the best battery backup. Firefox came a close second. Using Ad-block solutions also improved battery backup. Google Chrome also did fine with a third spot. Opera and Apple Safari struggled in their tests.
The results were different in all the three cases. Google Chrome for example performed the best in netbooks. Read more about their findings here: Browser Face-Off: Battery Life Explored
