Consim files a trademark infringement lawsuit against Google

Google is being targeted legally this time in India.

Consim has revealed that they have filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against the search engine giant.

Consim is claiming that Google enables their rivals to use their trademarks to drive web traffic to other services.

Consim operates a couple of high profile Indian portals including BharatMatrimony.com.

The lawsuit says that when a user searches for BharatMatrimony.com or their other sites, Google serves advertisements of rival services.

This lawsuit has been filed in Madras High Court.

Update:

The funny thing is that the company could not confirm whether they are using similar tactics against their rivals. Consim CEO Murugavel Janakiraman admitted that their search engine marketing team might be doing the same. But he added: “As the market leader, we want it to be stopped for everyone”.

We checked it out and they are doing the same.
